Arizona is most famous for its ownership of one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, the Grand Canyon. Arizona is a great place and has a lot more to offer than just the Grand Canyon. It is the home to many different types of people and animals.
Within the magnificent deserts, majestic mountains, and peaceful plateaus dwell the remains of tribes of long ago. Ancient Indians built great communal cliff dwellings on its land. Now, only crumbling walls attest to the history of their culture.
Its capital, Phoenix, was founded on Indian ruins. Like its namesake, the mythical bird, it grew swiftly out of the remains.
Arizona has continued to grow spectacularly in population. Its warm climate and large diversity of industry has lured people of all types.
Today, "The Valley of the Sun" is composed of several communities. Phoenix is the largest with several smaller areas such as Tempe, Mesa, Gilbert, Glendale, Scottsdale, Apache Junction, Chandler, Paradise Valley, Sun City, Cave Creek, and Carefree.
